Here’s a suggestion for the newly formed steering committee trying to give the restoration of the State Theatre in downtown Sioux Falls a final funding push:
Start with a road trip south.
Because about 60 miles away in Vermillion is a compelling example of what can happen when community forces come together.
It all started with a leaking roof in the Coyote Twin theater.
The water ruined a digital projector, and owner March Films Inc. replaced it last August with one from the nearby Vermillion Theatre, which it also owned.
That meant closure for the historic theater, which was built in 1918 and had been owned by March for more than 40 years.
